The time-lock container designed to help us fight temptations. USA today and time magazine call it “brilliant!” here’s how it works: 1) place an item in the Time Locking Container 2) rotate the button to set the timer (from 1 minute to 10 days) 3) press the button to activate the lock once locked, the Time Locking Container cannot be opened until the timer reaches zero. Seriously, there are no overrides, once it’s locked, it’s locked. Studies of highly successful people show that the best strategy for achieving goals is to avoid relying on willpower in all situations. These people are more likely to use something called pre commitment, which significantly improves odds of achieving goals. Pre commitment is the notion of committing to a smart choice early, when we know we will be tempted by a bad choice later. The Time Locking Container is a tool that enables us to pre commit to smart choices.

The time locking container can be used by students to stop their mobile phone from distracting them when revising or completing homework. A student or parent can place a mobile phone in the container before setting the timer for a certain period. The box remains locked until the timer runs out, giving the student an enforced break from the distractions of their phone.

Mobile phone addiction and the problems mobile phones create are becoming more and more prominent, with Ofcom finding that children are spending as much as 12 hours a day online. Research has shown that it doesn’t matter whether or not the mobile phone is being used – the mere presence of one whilst doing a task has been shown to reduce performance by 20%.

75% of students consider themselves procrastinators, with 50% of them doing so to a level that is seen as problematic – and mobile phones are considered to be one of the most common ways to procrastinate. Therefore, if students’ mobile phones are locked away, this could remove one of the barriers that stops students from working to their full potential.

This is why a time locking container can provide an ‘out of sight, out of mind’ approach, removing the distraction that mobile phones provide when students should instead be completing homework or revising for exams.

A time locking container is suitable for a student of any age who is often distracted by their mobile phone when completing homework or revision.

Many young people have this perception that they can efficiently multi-task, such that they can complete homework or revision whilst using their mobile phone. However, multi-tasking is actually impossible. Those who revise near their mobile phones find it difficult to concentrate. Evidence suggeststhat even listening to music on a mobile phone reduces one’s ability to perform well during independent study.

Multi-tasking causes errors to be made and reduces productivity, as it takes time to switch from one task to another. Multi-tasking also causes high levels of stress and a decline in performance on a range of cognitive tasks.

It appears that nearly all modern day students are distracted by their phone. The time locking container provides the perfect solution to this problem and it can be used by all students, regardless of their age and ability. Once it arrives, it is ready to be used immediately as no extra equipment is needed nor is it particularly hard to use.

This device offers flexibility. It can be tailored around the student’s revision plan as they and/or their parents can determine the period of time their phone will be locked away for. The time locking container can also be used as a source of motivation, as the student knows that if they complete a pre-determined amount of revision, they will be rewarded with something they want.

That being said, the time locking container does not teach students skills needed to self-regulate and manage their attention, as it simply removes the distraction. It operates on an ‘out of sight, out of mind’ philosophy.

I’ve been using this box for about a few months now and I have to say I wish had found a different solution.
The idea is perfect, but the execution is subpar.

    – battery lid falls off on BOTH models I bought
    – timer is always wrong; set for 22 hours, will lock for 23 because of lag. I can’t remember a time it was ever 100% accurate
    – battery habitually “runs out,” only for me to slap the container, have it turn back on, and have the timer continue from where it left off, which can take me days to notice, thus adding unnecessary time to my preplanned schedule
    – display messes up like an old calculator.

Overall, I wish I had found a different solution. I now know to not lock things like my phone or other essential items in there because I don’t know if it will open at the time I NEED it to open.

I wish I had bought this device months ago. I am currently studying for the MCAT and with social media/technology being at your disposal, a cell phone can be very distracting let alone daunting seeing the hours go by when I should actually be studying. Long story short I have improved my focus and have the added benefit of using my time wisely. Definitely recommending this to my friends and family members who seem to be locked to their phone for countless hours. I will say it is a bit pricey but I think it will pay off in the long run which is the purpose of this gadget depending on what your goal is.

nifty idea, especially for those high on desire to lose weight but low on willpower

I like this thing. I was tired of squandering my time after work by mindlessly surfing the internet on my phone (both unproductive and arguably harmful to mental health). Thus I bought this safe. Now what I do is I surf my phone for a bit, then promptly lock it away and have a nice evening of freedom from the digital cocophany. I feel a presence and a clarity that is quite nice. I do meditation and am hopeful that this hack will help me increase the quality of my practice.

One flaw: the battery cover does not latch firmly and often flops open. Not a big problem but annoying.

I initially had some problems with the tabs not being secure, i could push them in easily enough. Since then they replaced the lid and the things been rock solid. Great customer service !!

Funny Story…this is the 3rd K Safe I’ve bought. Before I bought a K Safe I had another time lock safe and it was horrible, such a pain to operate that you just wouldn’t use it, not worth the effort. When I got my first K Safe I slapped it together in a few seconds and learning how to operate it instantaneously, it’s very intuitive, you don’t need instructions…it’s a timer, you turn the big nob until you get to the time you want to be locked out, then you press the big nob and after a short moment the motors kick on and engage the lock. But, I’m not writing to tell you about the mechanics of the actual box, that’s simple. I want to tell you about the usefulness of having a tool that allows you to plan out the consumption of whatever your weakness is. The K Safe makes moderating yourself so easy … if you love gummy bears and can’t keep your paws out of the bag until they are all gone this box is for you. When you get your sack of gummys split them, but half in the candy bowl and the other half in the K Safe. Knowing you got half of your usually supply to work with you will enjoy your gummies at a controlled pace. Also knowing you will have more bears becoming available will destroy you motivation to drive the store to buy more. The K Safe is a training tool…it helps you change your behavior. Is the K Safe a cure-all-end-all for over indulgence? Nope, not at all, but it does help a motivated person to get where they need to be. Who sets the time it opens? You do! Who decides how much is going in and how much can remain out? You! So respect your own decisions. Can you cheat? Of course, it’s a plastic box, people break into armored trucks like it’s cool, K Safe is not going to stop a motivated adult but it will help a motivated adult stretch the time between gummies, first 6 hours, than 8, then 10 etc etc.

When I got my first K Safe I immediately saw how it was going to benefit me. I also saw how it could really benefit a buddy so I got one to gift to him on his birthday. On his birthday I went to explain what I was giving him and why… it didn’t sound cool at all…I got you this so you can regulate your intake, not saying it needs regulating but you know if you did need than you could use this to keep some …. oh, forget it, here’s your gift, just take it!
I thought I had damaged our friendship but not only was he not offended he loved the K Safe too and used the heck out of it … he even ordered one as a gift to a friend of his…we both got a laugh at how he was going to inoffensively explain what i couldn’t.

I have three and no regrets whatsoever!!! I use them for sweets and to lock away electronics. As soon as they come out with a bigger version and a fridge version, I anticipate buying both. Very easy to use, great quality. I’ve definitely saved money since I’ve cut down on the family’s ‘boredom eating.’

This container is totally awesome. A bag of cookies now last for days instead of minutes. It works as advertised and makes a nice and totally captivating display of the goodies you know you want but cannot have until your reward has expired. I could never resist returns to cookies, candy, sweet rolls and pretzels; now I have no choice but I don’t feel deprived just delayed. Easy to clean and perfect for any kitchen. Buy it.

This cookie jar is perfect for those who just cant help themselves. The battery cover keeps popibg out which is why I lowered it a star. Also you cant store it in the fridge, instead they recommend locking up a key. So why do I need a large cookie jar to lock up a key? The mechanics of it tho are really user friendly with simple to use dial.

We read another review that suggested this box for an automatic cat feeder, and we love it!

Cat used to wake us up at 4 or 5am to remind us to feed her at 7. Ear plugs didn’t work. We would suffer for hours and then slug upstairs to feed her. We give her the blue food egg featured in the picture so she is simultaneously amused and prevented from inhaling her food like a vacuum.

We needed a better solution, and none of the automatic cat feeders we researched would accommodate the egg.

After seeing the other cat owner’s review, we decided to give this a shot. The jar arrived on time and nicely packaged. We spent a few weeks figuring out the best setup, given that the jar had to be tilted and raised up enough that the egg would roll out. Eventually we settled on what you see in the picture below! The black spot is a little bumper I glued to the lid to protect it as it falls off.

Now Cat sleeps with us peacefully until about 6am, at which time she quietly excuses herself and supposedly goes to sit by the jar with anticipation. She still has a bad yowling habit (particularly right after meals, oddly enough), but we’re using other methods like clicker training and positive reinforcement to fix it. Other than that, she’s a wonderful kitty, and this jar has made it so much easier to enjoy her company.

My only issue is that it would be nice to have a clock instead of a timer featured. We always have her egg roll out at the same time, so depending on when we put it in the night before we have to carefully count the hours and minutes. Then again, that’s not the true purpose of this jar, so I have no reason not to give this five stars.

Love this! For anyone like me, who cannot just eat 1 peice of chocolate, this is great! I can now keep some snacks in my house without eating in one sitting. I will take out 1 portion, lock for 24 hours, take out 1 more portion, relock, etc. Really helps control those cravings. Only wish it were slightly larger!

I have some bad habits. I get home, exhausted, plop down in front of the tv, and binge-watch Netflix while I play a brainless game on my iPod late into the night. This has impaired my sleep, and blocked me from doing anything productive at home.
This box helped me escape. I put the tv remote and iPod inside, set the timer for some time next weekend, and I can’t use the tv or play that stupid game until the time is up. After a couple hours of tv on a Saturday, I lock ‘em up again until next Saturday. Now I’m going to bed earlier and my home is slowly getting cleaner. I’ve even started taking walks.

I love my ksafe XL! I use mine for food that is easy to overeat. It’s very simple to use and you can fit a lot in the XL. I wish the width was a tad bigger to fit cracker boxes but you can just get rid of the box and put the bag in it so it works. This device eliminates the willpower it takes to resist the urge of snacking, which I love! I just bought two more.

I like the Kitchen Safe a lot it has been very helpful. I have a toddler in the house and wanted some extra protection (besides just putting them out of reach) and this helps me protect him Even More. Just put your items in and set the timer. I thought about buying a Mini in addition to this one to save money! Hope this helps. I posted a picture with a can of soup and a can of Pepsi (opened sorry that’s all I had) but it can give you an idea.

Color: White Lid + Clear Base
I wish I had this years ago! I typically use it to lock up my credit cards & money. When I have a house full of groceries but want to go out and buy something else; when I want beer or wine – night after night – this prevents me from giving in to my weaknesses – providing instant will power.

Spending a little bit of money to purchase my kitchen safe has saved me a probably HUNDREDS on unnecessary runs to get unhealthy fast food meals, or Starbucks; helps prevent me from eating out too often – while food spoils at home; biggest thing is that it has helped stop my drinking of way too much beer & wine.

The timer is accurate and super easy to use too.

    Thank you Kitchen Safe!

This is the second time I have purchased this product. The ‘new’ one is at home. The older unit is in my vehicle. The difference between the old unit and this one is that the locking arms protrude farther from the base unit thereby making it more difficult – if not impossible – to defeat the locking mechanism other than driving over the entire unit with your car…
Obviously, this unit is designed to help all of us with temporary temptations that most all of us have to deal with from time to time. It’s OK, we’re all human and all of us have difficulty with one thing or another, whether it be a cell phone addiction, or cookies, or whatever. If the thing from which you want to distance yourself from is too big to fit into the unit (as is my laptop), simply lock up that item somewhere else, and put the key from the lock in this unit.
Honestly, this has been an absolute life-changer for me and I thank the inventor of this unit!!
If you are looking at this unit and wondering.., wonder no more. It’s worth it!

With minutes of opening it I was able to figure it out and start using it. I LOVE that the batteries can go dead without resetting the timer. My kids instantly tried to reset it by taking the batteries out and to their horror the timer started right back where it had been! Haha! Very easy to set and start. I would suggest an upgraded version to be able to set a day and time to unlock vs just the amount of time to stay locked. For instance, setting it to go off at 2Pm on a certain day required figuring out how many days/hours away from now that is.

  26. 5 out of 5

One very important note if you are considering purchasing this and using it. THERE IS NO OVERRIDE.

Once you put something inside the box, it will stay there until the timer counts down. In fact, in case of a failure on the part of the Kitchen Safe, your only option is to break into the box to retrieve your item. The instructions caution you to be careful if you have to break in, since there could be sharp fragments.

Still, what would a timed safe be if you could turn off the timer and get in at will?

There are many practical ways to use this, including time outs on electronics and candy (just don’t put your chocolate in there if you aren’t willing to wait!). It is large enough for smaller electronics. You can even put the remote control in it and drive someone crazy! And, if you want to limit the temptation at work to respond to texts on your phone, just slip it in there with the timer set for your next break or lunch.

BUT, the most awesome thing I will be using this for is gifts! You can either set the item inside the safe where it can be seen (and drooled over) but not opened, or you can line this with wrapping paper and put the gift inside where a child can watch it count down to a birthday, Christmas, or any special event!

Picture a child counting down the days and hours till Christmas, then hearing it click open to reveal … whatever you have put inside!

Because it can’t be opened till the timer goes off, you can even pack this with the gift and ship it to your college student or child who might otherwise open it early.

Fun – with some very practical applications as well!

EDIT – one of my questions addressed to the company was what happens if the batteries go dead? Apparently, there is a permanent memory chip imbedded that periodically is updated. So when you replace the batteries, they start at the last saved memory.

A second question, I discovered on my own – the timer goes up to ten days.

    Still loving it.

I absolutely love this product. Initially I had it out on the counter but I found myself constantly checking the time that was left. Putting it away/not seeing it was the best way for me to stop thinking about how much time was left. Be careful when you set up the time. I accidentally gave myself an extra 6 hours so I took the box with me in a large purse on the train just so that I could get access as soon as the time was up…

  28. 5 out of 5

Excellent. It locks up whatever you are trying to put out of your reach for 10 minutes up to 10 days. I can divide up my cookies, gambling money, keys to a larger container and know there will be some left for later. So far have avoided the smash and grab instinct.

The Kitchen Safe is great–serves my purpose well. For years, I wished for a similar product, and this was the answer.
    A few caveats:
1-there is no override, so it isn’t a good idea to lock your only phone or set of keys inside; in the rare case of an emergency you would need to break the box to get inside
2-see number 1. if desperate enough to get the contents, box can be broken
3-if for some reason you accidentally “lock” the lid when it is not on the base, it will stay locked until it counts down, meaning whatever you’d have locked in the box is now in your (or your housemate’s) reach for however long you set that timer for. in the locked position, the battery cannot be removed, so you cannot “reset” it
4-I wish this came in XXXXL size! Due to digestive conditions, i eat a very limited and very expensive diet. Intoxicated housemates will eat ALL the food they can get their hands on, no matter what it is! Kitchen Safe has saved my food, but an even larger one would be even better!

In all, these are amazing, and I ordered another for myself and one for a gift.

  33. 5 out of 5

I bought 10 of these. I love them and they gave me back my sanity. My mother was driving me crazy every day for more and more cigarettes. She promised me no more than a pack a day, so that was the deal. I put one pack in each of 10 boxes and set them on the timer to open one 24hrs after the other for a period of 10 days. That was 10 packs and I told my mom that was all she gets was one pack a day and she could not hound me, call me or drive me crazy for cigarettes any more. Every 10 days I filled them back up. It actually gave us quality time together not fighting about her smoking 2 packs a day. It got her down to 1 pack a day and made her ration for herself. She managed to make 1 pack last a day and when she did not, she did not bother me and waited until the timer opened the box. You can not break into this box and nothing will stop the timer. Even taking out the battery does not work. Loved this

  34. 5 out of 5

A great thing for psychologically additive personalities battling whatever weakness it might be: cookies, cigarettes, pot, small food in general (it comes in a larger base, same price), small bottles of alcohol, other recreational drugs, sex toys, etc. It’s worth the money; otherwise, it is degradation as you keep going back to it, even if you don’t want to, not good for self esteem. But the Kitchen Safe works great and saves your pride. Be careful not to make a mistake in figuring out the time locked up; if you make a mistake, you might have to wait a half hour more, to get to your fix. So, don’t worry, be happy; get one and be free.

This product is exactly what I was hoping for. The construction and size are similar to that of an ice bucket you would fill at a hotel. The timer functions very simply with a dial to increase time, and once sealed the box can’t be opened. I could not be happier with my purchase and I would recommend this product to anyone who can think of a use for it.

  37. 5 out of 5

Snacking at work is my worst food habit that is now resolved thanks to this. Now I can buy the jumbo bag of Twizzlers and literally lock in portion control, which means over time it will pay for itself. I pull out 4 Twizzlers and lock it for the rest of the work day before temptation and convenience call me back for more. It has dramatically reduced my daily calorie intake, and I’m dropping weight rapidly. Fantastic product!!

I have suffered from a night time eating disorder and this has truly helped me build a new habit. It was simple to use and indestructible. I would recommend it to anyone who needs help building healthy habits.

Genius product. It helps me out when my self-control fails. Obviously I could break into this if I really wanted to, however it would damage this product that I spent $50 on. The pricing is genius because while I do not think the technology is worth that cost, it makes it easier for you to obey the timer by not wanting to damage an expensive asset.

  40. 5 out of 5

I use this product to control my smoking habit and it is perfect! It will not let you cheat or give in. It’s a genius idea, and although a little pricey, I believe it was well worth the money. It is, after all, the only product of its kind.

  41. 5 out of 5

This is also great for teaching kids patience and limiting electronic time (you can play Plants vs. Zombies again in 1 hour). Instead of hearing “Mom, can I play yet??” every two minutes, your child can go look at the timer – love it. 🙂

  42. 5 out of 5

I LOVE this box. I use it for my kids cell phones (as a consequence), for chocolate and more. After I had surgery I had painkillers, and I wanted them out of reach of kids, so I put them in this box until I was scheduled for my next dose. When it was time to start taking the dose down, it was also helpful in making sure I stayed to a firm schedule. I think it would be great for people trying to manage almost anything!
Next I would recommend a padlock for locking away things too big to fit in the box. Great product!

  43. 5 out of 5

We are so glad we bought the Kitchen safe. We use it for serious things, we use it for playful things, but the key is that we USE IT! It’s simple to operate and works great. Good instructions came with it, so we were using it right away. We would also like to have one that is smaller. Perhaps they will come out with one in the future.

  44. 5 out of 5

Assuming the electronic mechanisms in the lid remain functional for the foreseeable future, I would consider this purchase an investment rather than a frivolous cookie jar. For example, take a pack-a-day smoker, smoking cigarettes that cost $6 a pack (this may be low, I was fortunate enough to kick the habit a few years ago and am no longer in touch with the price of cigs). If this person remains consistent with their smoking, that equals out to $2190 a year ($6 * 365 days). Now, I know when I used to smoke cigarettes, I would smoke them more often when I had more available, and would ration them when I was running low. This is where the kitchen safe comes into play. Sure, it costs almost $50, which is a lot to spend on a clear plastic box with limited features. However, say you spend the $50 and are able to take 10 cigarettes each day and leave them in the safe. That way, you now only smoke 1/2 a pack a day. This act ALONE will save you $3 a day, which means the safe pays itself off in just over half a month, and at the end of the year, the savings will be just over $1k. ($3 half pack * 365 days)

While I know I probably lost some people with the above paragraph, the point is simple: if you have addictions that are costing you a lot of money, and have enough self control to cut your daily/weekly supply in half and put the other half in the kitchen safe, you WILL save money over time, and potentially quite a lot of money, depending on your habits! The best part is, you can start smaller than half…take the cigarette example again. Say you only put 2 away each day, 1/10th of the pack. This will not even be noticeable (unless your cigarette habit is completely regimented) but will save $200 a year.

The above is basically my rationalization for buying this safe, but again, the safe is only a tool, the user still needs to exhibit enough self control over their self for the product to work (no destroying the box or buying more goodies!) Given time, I have absolutely no doubt that this product will improve my life AND save me money by helping me manage and reduce my habits, with the hopes that someday the safe will be unnecessary for my own use and I will be able to gift it to a friend or family member needing a little help with self control.

Our autistic son has struggled with food compulsions and over eating for the last few years. We have tried everything we could think of, including lock boxes and hiding food. We still haven’t found a combination or key lock our son can’t open somehow. I purchased a Kitchen Safe and we have been using it for the last week. It has been absolutely amazing. The container is see through, so our son doesn’t worry that the food is gone or has been eaten, and the timer on the top has a “count down” that seems to pacify him because he knows that he will get the food or treat he wants and knows exactly when he will receive it. We have also used it for his tablet. There is no more obsessing and asking me when he can have it back. There is no way for me to override the timer, he knows that, so he doesn’t even bother to ask. It isn’t indestructible, and he could break it if he chose to, but I think he feels a sense of security with it and has brought food items he had hidden in his room for me to lock up for him. I love it!

I use one of these safes for half the rent. I use another for my mothers medications. She is on very strong pain meds for cancer. I use it to deter any one else getting into her meds, and the timer lets me know when she needs more. She is more relaxed when her physical therapist or home nurse or the guy that brings her liquid food and medical supplies comes into the house. No one would immediately suspect the meds are in a jar vs a narcotic safe.

This is a GREAT tool for someone with an eating disorder. It’s useful for numerous circumstances as, in my case at least, my eating disorder can change from day to day from one extreme to another. You can put individual portions of food in there, money you could impulsively buy food with or a key to locked cabinets full of food. This last strategy is especially effective for me. I don’t have to drain my self control. The Kitchen Safe has self control for me. I can finally live by myself and be reasonably stable. Before, when my husband went somewhere, it was always a problem. But The Kitchen Safe let me take advantage of what moments of rationality I have, and I’m much better off for it.

Thank you so, so, so much for creating this product. I’ve been wishing for something like this, and it finally was invented. The produce is simple, yet smart, and I will have one all my life.

This little knickknack not only met my expectations, but far exceeded them. I wish a bigger version were available. I wish there were one big enough to put a person in it..

Placed my tobacco inside, set for three days, changed my mind and decided I wanted one more cig, tried to take batteries out, realised there’s no way to override. Guess I’ll have to wait …

I like to have an alcoholic drink every few days, but one drink often leads to another, and I tend to overdo. The Kitchen Safe keeps me from overindulging: when it unlocks, I pour myself one moderate drink, then lock up the rest with the timer set for two or three days. The Kitchen Safe is not suitable for liquids by itself, but the Felli Flip Tite 5″ Square x 5″ High Canister has a good seal and holds 750 ml (the size of a standard bottle of wine or whiskey), and the Kitchen Safe holds that.

Been searching for something of this sort for years, and for the small amount of time I’ve had it, it seems I’ve struck gold!

Apparently they’ve made the units more sturdy, and harder to pry in to. The plastic base is thick, and the locking mechanism of the top sticks out far enough when locked, to prevent break in. No, it doesn’t have an override, but this safe would be useless if it did. Will update review when used more!

    Excellent product.

Really great. I put my kids phones and controllers in them at night, set the timer and after the first couple of nights they slept a little longer because they knew they couldn’t use their electronics. Now, even on the occasional day I forget to do it, they still have built a healthier pattern.

I have needed one (or more) of these for a very long time! I put my son’s meds in it multiple times per day and night to dispense his meds without having to rush home all day/night or get up early. Also good for multiple other items that need distribution at certain times of day and night, when I can’t be home. The directions are simple – just set the dial and go! I would definitely purchase two or three smaller size boxes, if they become available (i.e., at least half the current size). But, it’s certainly not an issue – this product is great. You will find tons of uses for this, once you have it (i.e., food, beverages, keys, meds, candy, cigarettes, etc). PS: I got the solid white one because seeing what you can’t get to might be too frustrating and tempting, esp for kids … but that was just my own consideration.

This box is amazing. it’s the best tool for postpone satisfaction.
    I am a weed smoker.
weed is nice for having quality time and rest, and bad while need to work or study effectively since things are taking more time to do while you are high.
with this, I am able to lock the weed when I need to work, postpone my high satisfaction, and be much more productive.
and best thing, with this I am able to save my weed twice the time as usual, meaning I consume less, I smoke less.
This is the best thing for saving weed, or for regulating productive time. also, it has nice volume, so you can save in it a lot of weed easily.
the cons of this product are:
    1. well, it is plastic made. it can break, it feels fragile.
    2. it is pricey, pretty expensive for a plastic box with a time lock. for that price, I would expect something that is more robust, such as metal can and metal handle, or at list, aluminum.
for this, I remove 1 star from the maximum level.
This is a great product to get as gift for postpone satisfactions and regulate bad habits that cannot be stopped without force yourself to do so, also a great gift for productive stoners 🙂

PRAISE GOD AND JESUS!! The kitchen safe been a weight loss miracle for me! . Being a girl with a late night eating (binging) problem and lack of willpower, i could not lose weight. I tried all kinds of diets etc. Then i prayed to GOD for help and afterwards found this amazing little safe. I bought 3 of them. Now at night I can padlock the refrigerator and lock the key up for it until breakfast…yea! No more late night refrigerator raids for me. I also use 1 to lock up my oatmeal. It’s airtight so it keeps it fresh and i time it so that it opens once a day so i can get my once daily serving everyday. I have lost a lot of wright and am GLORIFYING GOD!!

This safe works great. It’s a very user friendly and effective design. Also, if you ever have any problems with your container, the manufacturer responds promptly and in a professional manner. I love my kitchen safes, and they’ve been very helpful to me in quitting vaping! I highly recommend this to anyone who struggles with any kind of addiction, or needs to lock a phone for a while to keep the kids from using it, lol.

This works exactly like I hoped. My son is virtually addicted to his phone, so I needed something to keep it in overnight and open in the morning. It’s not a ‘safe’ as you would imagine a ‘safe.’ If you want to break in, that would be easy — but that’s not the point. It just needs to hold something well enough until the morning (for me).

After I discovered that I could defeat the locking mechanism of the safe by pressing the bolts back through the slots, I emailed the company. In a comprehensive, detailed response, I was told how to address the problem:

    1) Press and hold the top button for 5 seconds. This will realign the gears in the locking mechanism but will not unlock it.

    2) Remove and reinsert the cells to ensure there are solid electrical connections at all contact points. Remove and reinsert the cells, which may have become misaligned. Be sure none of them is installed backwards.

    3) If the problem still persists, replace the cells with fresh, fully charged ones. Energizer, Duracell, and Ray-O-Vac cells are consistently sized and of the correct length. Cells from other manufacturers may be incorrectly sized. It’s important to note that rechargeable cells will not work.

Customer service is excellent. I sent my email on a Sunday evening and heard back within an hour.

So cool! I love chocolate especially with peanut butter and it’s Halloween. I also love baking since it’s fall but I’m also on wheigh t loss program. I’m not willing to cut these things out completely but I don’t want the option to say one more which turns into 5 or 10 more if you know what I mean. This is a miracle! I just wish there was one for fridge and freezer and that there was a more affordable small one I could use for the extra pumpkin bars and the like which I keep in the fridge. It’s easy to use, fast, and durable. Unless you seriously need more help this will keep you out of your craving. It’s like waiting for a responsible parent to say yes. Lol

I love this thing. We use it to keep the kids cell phones and tablets in at night. They wanted to play on them instead of going to bed. Then they wake up complaining that they were tired. No more of that. I like that they can see the count down and if they try messing with the dial, it will either stop the time or May had more. Thinking of getting another one for other things.

Love this product, I don’t have a lot of self-control and can only allow myself 1 small piece of chocolate each day. This keeps the temptation away and since I have it at work it also keeps others from stealing it when I’m not at my desk.

I have adult ADHD & am a full time college student. One of my biggest issues with studying and schoolwork is that I’ll sit down and start and then 5 minutes in I’ll reach for my phone, forget what I’m doing, and spend an hour on my phone before I realize I was studying (I’ve even done this in the middle of online tests and run out of time). I bought it off their official websites where the prices are a little different, i wish I had bought a bit of a smaller one but at the time the price for this one and the mini were the same. The place to enter the battery is on the outside, meaning if the battery dies or you take it out the safe will stay locked. My only con is that the lid isn’t airtight, it still wiggles a bit, so personally I wouldn’t put unwrapped food in it for more than a day or so.

    Works like a charm!

I discovered these on Kick Starter several years ago and it’s been a Godsend, lol! I have no ability to moderate and have tried quitting smoking sooo many times only to go back. Now I smoke one cigarette, a little at a time, over the course of hours, so I now I only have a couple a day, with the rest locked in the safe. I take out one, lock the rest away for 6 hours or whatever, then take out another and lock up the rest again. Not ideal to be sure, but a livable solution for the time being. I use it for food as well. Yes, I have broken into them before…it is much harder than you’d think, I had to pound at the thing with a hammer for several minutes after trying to wedge a butter knife under the lid failed. And then of course I have to shell out $50 for a new one, so that is a rare event (I think I’ve done it twice over the last several years). I was just at my boyfriends this weekend and my lungs feel like crap because we both smoked too much (both Eagles fans watching the game, enough to stress anyone lol) so now I’m getting another one for his house. I love that it gives you 5 seconds to change your mind before it locks, too. I like the ones with the solid base much more than the clear, I don’t want to see the stuff I can’t have while I’m waiting for it to unlock.

So I’ve got a problem. I’ll buy a bag or candy or chips or any other goodies and have the best of intentions to “just eat one” but many of us know how that goes. Next thing you know I’m halfway through the bag and that’s not good for the waistline!

This is exactly what I was looking for. I deducted a star, only because it seems really expensive for what it is. I’d think this should be around the 20-30 dollar range but what are you going to do?

Pro tip, if you need to put bigger items or items that need to be refrigerated that obviously won’t work with this. What I did is get a couple of those insulated lunch bags (make sure they’ve got 2 zippers so they can lock) and then get a couple padlocks. The travel TSA types ones worked for me. Then you can lock up your goodies and put them in the fridge. Then just put the key in the Kitchen Safe, set the timer and you’re golden.

It’s worked for me so far. I bought a box of those granola bars and USUALLY I would have probably finished them off during the weekend, but I set the timer so it wouldn’t open up until Monday morning!

Suggestion for future improvements. Perhaps some sort of built in calendar so you can set it for Monday at 8AM, instead of 32 hours…When I set the timer on Friday afternoon I had to do math in my head to figure out what Monday 8AM was. Not a biggie, but just a suggestion.

Was looking for something to limit my daughters use of her phone. I work at night, so when everyone else is sometimes still up on her phone. not good!! (She’s still in school!) This solved that problem

I’ve had the kitchen safe for over two years, and it has worked without fail. It’s great for anything you have trouble keeping your hands off of. I have, for example, had something that I quite like, and would have run out of it in a single weekend – but I’ve been able to lock up half and have it for the subsequent weekend. Just perfect for controlling your vices.

I put my cell phone in there, I’m on it too much. I tried to drill a hole to pass my charging cord through it and it cracked big time even though I had a couple of smalle pilot holes going. It would be nice to have one with a charging hole for cell phones. I ordered another base.

If you need it it means you lack will power & if you lack willpower then your just not gonna use it right. So waste of $

I was hoping for a backlit display and a way to preset timers, but it’ll do. I’m using it as a quit smoking aid and within the first hour it’s already turned smoking into an inconvenience because now I have to stop everything I’m doing and put effort into reaching for a cigarette, and then turn on a light so i can reset the timer (and i hate light). The bad thing about it is the gears are loud, so if you keep the box in the same room you’re occupying you’ll hear it unlock and have a sudden and intense craving for what’s inside. So I guess it’s pretty cool. Everything has side effects.
